Vietnamese Shaking Beef in 15 mins! Kids Love It

Bo Luc Lac, or Vietnamese Shaking Beef, is a quick and flavorful stir-fry featuring tender, juicy beef cubes marinated and seared to perfection. This dish is a delightful fusion of Vietnamese, Chinese, and French influences, perfect for a family-friendly meal.

Ingredients

  • Marinade
  • 1 lb beef sirloin or ribeye, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
  • 1.5 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp cornstarch
  • 2 tsp whiskey
  • 2 tbsp neutral oil
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • dusting of
  • Sauce
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp sugar
  • 1/4 cup wine
  • 1/4 chicken or beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Maggi or soy sauce
  • optional: 1 shallot and 1 red bell pepper (sliced)

Instructions

    In a bowl, combine the beef cubes with all ingredients for marinade

    In a small bowl, whisk together sugar, wine broth and Maggi seasoning

    Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat until shimmering.

    Add the marinated beef in a single layer. Do not overcrowd the pan. Sear the beef until browned. Total cook time 1-2 mins. You may need to do this in batches. Remove beef from pan.

    Add the sliced shallot and bell pepper. Stir-fry for about 30 seconds. Remove from pan

    In pan, melt butter, add flour. Whisk well until flour looks golden in color. Add sauce mixture. Cook until thickened to sauce consistency

    Add beef and vegetable into pan. Mix to coat ingredients in sauce. Serve
